Dr Turner studied medicine at the University of NSW. After graduation she started working as a junior doctor at Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) and Westmead hospitals. She then acquired extensive experience in general practice and surgical assisting while working in the Blue Mountains and Outer Western Sydney before working in corporate health and general practice in Sydney's CBD for over 20 years. She then went on to work with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) in remote and city locations in Western Australia, Queensland, Northern Territory, Victoria and New South Wales. For the past three years, she has been working in general practice on the northside of Sydney.
